   team leading top tips

Lisa Greenwood is a Training Consultant and delivers the Team Leader and Management Training modules on our Management Modern Apprenticeship.

1.Understand your leadership style - and embrace it! - All leaders have different personalities and methods - that is what makes them great!  The way you lead your team may be completely different to the way you were lead but it doesn't mean it is any less effective, you may just have a different leadership style!

2.Understand different learning styles and personalities! - Once you understand your leadership style, you still need to constantly adapt it in order for your team to reach it's potential.  Just as every leader is different, so is every member of your team - understand each of their personality styles and use this to inspire them.

3.Functional and Flexible - Every team is built of a number of people and each has their own function.  As demands and functions change, so will the team - as the leader it is your responsibility to introduce the flexiblilty to ensure the team remains as motivated and productive as possible.

Vivien Stirrup, Consultant from Bray Leino gives her eye witness account on her first visit to us at t2 business solutions
.

“I was contracted in by United Utilities to facilitate training. The venue was organised by them, as they do all training in the South Wales area here - and I can see why. I travelled 200 miles from the North West to come here and was thoroughly impressed by the excellent venue. "

“5 out of 5 for
refreshments and lunch. The size of the suite was perfect and the experience as a whole was great. I am already looking forward to my next visit here."

“The service was exceptional throughout and the courtesy of the staff was excellent .”

Introducing ...The Coach
Elena Dickie is a performance coach who works with business owners and senior managers, actively helping them to fulfill their potential by contributing to the growth and success of their business. Elena shares her coaching knowledge and experience in every edition. This months focus is on the fundamentals of being a successful leader.

Know what type of Leader you are
In order to lead a team effectively you need to know what type of leader you are, where your strengths and weaknesses are and how your team can complement each other and you in achieving your shared vision. Self awareness is one of the key qualities of a leader, together with his/her thirst for learning, innovating and keeping an eye on the horizon.  Only when you are truly aware of who you are and your originality, can you lead by example and inspire and motivate your team to go the extra mile.

Focus on your people
Your team will perform for you only if they are truly motivated, feel that their effort are recognised and praised and have ownership of the vision you are aiming to achieve. By focusing on your team, their needs, their strengths, the unique qualities that they bring and by making it clear "what is in it for them" and what parameters they are working within and towards will you achieve a high performing successful team.
