t2 receive environmental award for second year

A recent environmental audit rewarded training company, t2 business solutions, with a Level 2 Green Dragon Environmental Standard; Understanding Environmental Responsibilities, for the second year running.

The award, which assessed the Environmental Management System (EMS) of t2, documents the ways in which an organisation is abiding to legislation and how activities are controlled to ensure the environment is being protected.

t2 business solutions enforces a wide range of environmentally friendly procedures. These include everyday recycling of office paper, plastics and cans, and ensuring all printer cartridges are collected and recycled via SCOPE. The charity also receives donations for their cartridges.

Internally, scrap paper is used and all photocopies and print-outs are made double-sided, where possible, to ensure less paper is being wasted. t2 only orders sustainable rainforest office paper for everyday use to protect the environment.

Posters are placed around the office reminding people of ways to protect the environment, both in the office and when out of work. These remind people to switch off all lights and computers when not in use, to save energy around the office in any way they can and keep car tyres correctly inflated to reduce exhaust emissions.

Rob Marr, Managing Director of t2 business solutions said: “The Green Dragon Environmental Standard is very important to t2. We work hard to ensure that we are protecting the environment and it is very rewarding to have an award to show our hard work.

“Our environmental policy is on our intranet and we have set our email signatures to remind people to ‘Think before you print – Help save paper’ with a hope that we are delivering the message beyond our staff. All t2’s staff are enthusiastic about the procedures and enforce them wherever possible.”

Green Dragon was originally set up to help organisations in Wales gain an EMS in stages. There are now more than 1000 organisations throughout the UK and Ireland that have registered to Green Dragon. By gaining UKAS accreditation, it is now officially recognised as a UK-wide standard.
