Training 4 Work Helps to Reduce Unemployment

Local training centre, Training 4 Work, has been advertising its services in Newport City Centre in a bid to reduce unemployment.

Training 4 Work, part of t2 business solutions, offers Adult and Youth Skillbuild programmes, which allow anyone from the age of 16-18 and 18+, who are currently out of employment or full time education, the opportunity to train for a new career and gain a work placement.

Throughout June, the Skillbuild programmes have been advertised around Newport City Centre, on High Street and by the job centre, giving unemployed adults and youths the opportunity to find out more about a new career.

Simon Berry, Centre Manager at Training 4 Work, Newport, said: “At Training 4 Work we focus on re-training adults and youths who are out of employment and education to help local organisations find and employ trained staff members.

“As a result of our recent advertising in Newport centre, we have received an excellent response. Over 60 people now have their names down to take part in this opportunity, and 7 individuals have already started on the programme.”

Three members of the Training 4 Work centre on High Street, Newport have been on hand throughout these advertisement days to answer questions and guide interested applicants through the sign up process.

Two other members of the centre have been based in the Job Centre, Newport, for the past week to help encourage unemployed people to consider re-training for a career.

Simon Berry added: “We have had a fantastic response from people interested in undertaking further training with the added benefits of a possible work placement at the end. We have plans to have another day in the city centre for anyone who missed out last time, but this date has yet to be confirmed.”

Participants of the programme can expect to receive highly recognised and practical qualifications whilst getting the best support to prepare them for work. The programme is not only designed to train participants in these sectors, but to also give them support and guidance in applying for jobs.
