t2 celebrates a decade of success

One of Wales’ leading training providers celebrated its first decade of success by announcing a record turnover of just under £4 million.

St Mellon’s-based t2 business solutions had a triple whammy of celebrations when it marked its 10th anniversary, officially opened its new premises and announced its end of year results with an event at its headquarters.

Vanessa Griffiths, Director for North Wales and Enterprise, at the Welsh Assembly Government, was guest speaker at the event, which was attended by some of the company’s biggest clients and key partners, including representatives from HBOS, Wilkinsons, the institute of Leadership and Management and Cardiff and Vale NHS trust.

Robert Marr, managing director of t2 business solutions, said: “It has been a fantastic journey over the past 10 years. We have grown from essentially being a three-man band into one of Wales’ largest independent training providers.

“We now have 90 staff, a client base of more than 400 organisations and an annual turnover of £3.8 million. We are expanding at a rate of 20 per cent year on year and all of this has been achieved through organic growth without external financial help or undertaking any acquisitions.

“What I’m particularly proud of is that, despite the rapid growth, we haven’t compromised on the quality of delivery. We still maintain stringent standards and continue to score highly in all our client feedback.”

t2 business solutions was established as Training 2000 Wales in 1996 by the Marr family. It started life as a training provider specialising in vocational qualifications for school leavers in Newport. It has since diversified and now offers a range of top end training, coaching and support packages for business along the M4 corridor, with a focus on providing bespoke solutions to companies’ needs that deliver quantifiable value. Current clients include HBOS, Companies House, Wilkinsons, Cardiff and the Vale NHS Trust and the Crown Prosecution Service.

Owing to the firm’s continued expansion, it moved its headquarters from Newport city centre to its new 8,450 sq ft office space at the 1.6 acres Melrose Hall site in St Mellons earlier this year. The firm still retains its 2,800 sq ft training centre in Newport.

Vanessa Griffiths said: “t2 is a great example of a business that has met the changing needs of Wales’ learning agenda. They are continually adapting to the marketplace to find tailored solutions to meet the skills deficit that exists. This, together with their continued emphasis on quality, has enabled them to thrive.”

Robert Marr continued: “As with everything with t2, I don’t expect things to stay the same for long! Our growth target is to be turning over more than £5m in 2 years and we are continually looking at ways we can improve our product offering. At present we are looking to launch some interesting partnerships that will really add value to the services we can provide.”
