Trainee Obtains Employment from Training Provider

Trainee, Damian Butcher, receives permanent employment from training provider.

Damian joined t2 skills’ education centre in September to begin an Information Technology Qualification (iTQ) and work towards obtaining a trainee placement.

After only 2 weeks Damian was offered a temporary placement with another employer, and upon completion of that role, he returned to the training centre. After spending just one week back in the centre, Damian secured a placement at with t2 business solutions in Cardiff, due to their increasing workload and faith in the programme.

The programme allows employers to hire a trainee for three months, and if satisfied with their performance, they can then recruit them as a permanent employee.

As an administrator at t2 business solutions, Damian gained experience in standard administration work whilst focussing on his iTQ qualification. After his three month trainee placement period, t2 took him on as a permanent employee, before hiring another trainee from the programme, due to his success.

Damian said: “I am very happy with the result of my time at t2 skills. Not only did they help me work towards gaining a qualification, but they offered me a placement in their offices in Cardiff, which has resulted in permanent employment.

I thoroughly enjoy working for t2 business solutions and am grateful to the t2 centre for helping me get this far. I would recommend anyone aged 16 or 17 who is interested in gaining work experience, a qualification and possibly a permanent role to join t2 skills.”

t2 skills, Newport, offers training to young adults aged 16 and 17. Centre staff work with a wide variety of employers to gain placements for centre candidates to assist them in gaining a permanent position. t2 business solutions, Cardiff, delivers vocational and commercial training to businesses.

“It is very rewarding to see a candidate do so well and it is great for the employer to employ a dedicated member of staff. As a result of Damian’s success, t2’s head office has taken on another candidate from the centre with a view to create a full-time position for them in the very near future.”

t2 skills puts 16 and 17 year olds through a 4 week programme to develop IT skills, work on their CVs and learn interview techniques. Following this t2 will aim to enrol them on a paid placement in a junior role with a local business for up to 3 months.
