Work Focused Training

'Work Focused Training’ is a brand new initiative designed to give people in long term unemployment the opportunity to train in new sectors. You can expect to receive highly recognised and practical qualifications whilst getting the best support to prepare you for work.

We are offering a programme that will last up to 26 weeks and will involve attending our newly acquired adult training centre where you will be given the necessary skills and accredited qualifications in your chosen area. You can choose from the following areas:

  • Customer Service
    You will be required to complete the Technical Certificate in Customer Service at Level 2 as well as key skills in Communication, Application of Number and Information Technology.
  • Contact Centres
    You will be required to complete the Technical Certificate in Contact Centre at Level 2 as well as key skills in Communication, Application of Number and Information Technology.
  • Health and Social Care
    You will be required to complete the Technical Certificate in Health and Social Care at Level 2 as well as key skills in Communication, Application of Number and Information Technology.
  • Retail
    You will be required to complete the Technical Certificate in Retail at Level 2 as well as key skills in Communication, Application of Number and Information Technology.
  • Team Leading and Management
    You will be required to complete the Technical Certificate in either Team Leading at Level 2 or Management at Level 3 as well as key skills in Communication, Application of Number and Information Technology.
  • Business Administration
    You will be required to complete the Technical Certificate in Business Administration at Level 2 as well as key skills in Communication, Application of Number and Information Technology.
  • Child Care
    You will be required to complete the Technical Certificate in Child Care Learning and Developments at Level 2 as well as key skills in Communication, Application of Number and Information Technology.
  • You will also have the option of completing a variety of IT qualifications depending on experience. This could include New CLAIT, CLAIT Plus or ECDL.

    In addition to helping you gain accredited qualifications, Training 4 Work offers a range of other skill build training, including CV writing, increasing self confidence, improving IT competence and developing interview skills. Our placement officer will then work with you to arrange a work experience placement in your chosen sector.

    You will be required to attend Monday to Friday, 9am – 4pm at our Newport City Centre location. During the first 4 weeks you will complete general skills/qualifications and during this time you can explore which area you would like to specialise in. From then on you will work towards a technical certificate in your chosen area and this should increase your success of securing permanent employment.

    You will have a highly skilled and experienced tutor who will guide you through the process and help you achieve your personal goals.
