Case Study
J D Williams is one of the UK’s leading direct home shopping companies and employs over 3,500 people. The Board wanted their management teams to take greater responsibility in decision making and think more strategically regarding the future, rather than reacting to day-to-day operational issues.
Dale Carnegie met with J D Williams to discuss the way forward. It was agreed that increasing the leadership skills of the management teams would considerably enhance performance. A pilot programme was designed and delivered with 10 participants. The programme was a huge success and had a tremendous effect on how managers viewed the wider strategic picture and the impact they had on it. The Board attended the final session and were overwhelmed by what had been achieved. At a feedback session several months later, J D Williams revealed that innovation projects set during the pilot programme generated or saved the company over £110,000.
