t2 Youth Training Centre
We have launched a new training centre based in the heart of Newport City Centre.
We want to help 16 & 17 year olds start their working life by finding them 3 month placements in local businesses. Hopefully these placements will then turn into a permanent job.
Starting your working life can be tough – competition for jobs is high and your lack of experience can be an issue.
Our training centre will put you through a 4 week programme where you will develop your IT skills, work on your CV and learn interview techniques. Following this we will try and get you a paid placement in a junior role with a local business for up to 3 months.
The main benefits for you are:
When you’re on placement at a local business you’ll earn £65 per week (for a maximum of 3 months). Obviously, if you do well and are offered a permanent role you could earn a lot more.
Before we get you a placement, we’ll give you 4 weeks training aimed at improving your IT skills and making you more confident about getting a job (we help you with a CV and job interview training). We’ll also visit you regularly on your placement and give you some more training while you’re working.
When businesses are looking to recruit someone one of the main things they look for is experience. By working there for up to 3 months already you’re in pole position to be able to prove you can do the job.
After your 4 weeks in our training centre and 3 months on a placement you will have had the opportunity to gain the following recognised qualifications: iTQ Level 2
While there is no guarantee of a permanent job at the end of your placement – you have a great opportunity to show what you can do. By working hard and displaying your potential you can put yourself in a great position.
